Biography:

Marc Chagall (1887-1985) born July 7th in Vitebsk now Belarus, Russia, painter and designer lived & educated in art in Saint Petersburg, he was director of the art Academy & art director of the Moscow Jewish State Theater, Clearly influenced by Byzantine, Russian icon paintings and folk art. 

 

Chagall moved to France in 1923 where he spent the rest of his life, except for the period 1941 to 1948 he reside in United States, he died in St. Paul de Vence, France, on March 28,1985 at the age of 97.  In addition to treatments of Jewish subjects, collections of Russian-Jewish village scenes.

 

He was influenced decisively by French cubism, In his paintings he created a unique world full of pathos, poetry, humor & enchantment, he wished his own mythological floating figures & symbolism to be interpreted freely, he is recognized as one of the most significant painters & graphic artists of the 20th century.
