Biography:

Pierre-Auguste Renoir 1841-1919  born in Limoges, Haute-Vienne, French artist, leader in the development of the Impressionist, from working class family, he worked in porcelain factory where he paint design on china before he enrolled in art school, always visiting the Louvre to study the French masters.

In 1862 he began studying art under Charles Gleyre where he met  Sisley &  Monet, his first exhibition in Paris Salon 1864, Renoir painted Wagner's portrait in just thirty-five minutes. In 1883, he spent the summer in Guernsey, creating fifteen paintings in less than two month.

These paintings were the subject of a set of commemorative postage stamps, issued by the Bailiwick of Guernsey in 1983.

In 1919, Renoir visited the Louvre to see his paintings hanging with the old masters, he died in the village of Cagnes Sur Mer  Cote DÁzur
